Synergistic Activities:

Current TEACHING Assignment FY 2000: FST 420-2 cr, FST 429-3 cr, FST 620 - 3 cr, FST 501/601). Currently GRANT FUNDING includes four research grants funded (over $500,000) and three teaching grants (over $35,000- 2 electronic technology, 1 minority diversity).

Major Professor and Mentor to 46 M.S. Thesis students, 2 M.S. NonThesis, and 16 Ph.D. students in 21 years on UT faculty (currently advise 4 M.S. and 3 Ph.D). Very active locally and nationally in PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATIONS: -Present, Secretary, Tennessee Association of Milk Water Food Protection, 1997-Present, AOAC Expert Panel on Microbiological Methods, 1999-2000 - Panel Manager,, USDA, President, 1995, International Association for Food Protection Numerous University of Tennessee Service Activities including chairing the UTIA Advisory Council twice, Program Review Internal Chairperson, Department of Microbiology, 1996,UTK Speaker Bureau - since 1987, University Research Council's Committee on Research and Private Enterprise since 1994, RECENT HONORS and AWARDS include Haverland Citation Award (National -2000), 1999. Gamma Sigma Delta Award of Excellence for Research, 1999. CASNR Peacock Teaching Award for Faculty with more than 10 years Service, 1998. Outstanding Faculty Member with more than 10 years experience, The University of Tennessee, Department of Food Science and Technology, Elected to Faculty of Biotechnology, The University of Tennessee, 1985, Elected to Faculty of Toxicology, 1984.
